That's because the fabric is actually a fine synthetic mesh — just don't think because it's so remarkably sheer that it isn't also extremely strong! It is.

As weather-hardy as Textilene®, is, this hammock does contain organic wood parts, so we do still strongly advise storing it in an enclosed dry place away from harsh chemicals and foraging wildlife when it is going unused, or during lengthy stretches of bad weather, to help prolong its useful life.
